(菩萨)又名宝常。胎藏界地藏院九尊中之一。肉色,左手取莲华,上有三股杵,右手上有宝珠华鬘。见胎曼大钞四。

又(寺名)禅宗六祖慧能大师所住之寺也。在广东韶州曲江县南六十里南华山,即曹溪南华寺也。法海坛经序曰:“先是西国智药三藏,自南海经曹溪口,掬水而饮,香美,异之。谓其徒曰:此水与西天之水无别。溪源上必有胜地,堪为兰若。随流至源步顾。山水回环,峰峦奇秀。叹曰:宛如西天宝林山也。乃谓曹侯村居民曰:可于此山建一梵刹。一百七十年后,当有无上法宝,于此演化。得道者如林,宜号宝林。时韶州牧侯敬中以其言具表闻奏,上可其请,赐宝林为额。遂成梵宫,盖始于梁天监三年也。”又云:“师(六祖大师)至宝林,观堂宇湫隘,不足容众。欲广之,遂竭里人陈亚仙曰:老僧欲就檀趣求坐具地,得不?仙曰和尚坐具几许阔,祖出具示之。亚仙唯然。祖以坐具一展,尽罩曹溪四境。四天王现身,坐镇四方。今寺境有天王岭,因玆而名。仙曰:知和尚法力广大。但吾高祖填墓,并坐此地。他日造塔,幸望存留。余愿尽舍,永为宝坊。然此地乃生龙白象来脉(此地指南华山而言,在曲江县南六十里。生龙指回龙山而言,在曲江南四十五里。白象指象岭而言,在南华山之上方。见清一统志三百四十一),祇可平天,不可平地。寺后营建,一依其言。”传灯录五曰:“中宗神龙元年十二月十九日,敕改古宝林为中兴寺。三年十一月十八日,又敕为法泉寺。”宋高僧传八曰:“太平兴国三年,敕建塔,改为南华寺,又改曰华果寺。”

宝林传《佛学大辞典》
(书名)唐德宗贞元十七年建康沙门慧炬与天竺三藏胜持编禅宗诸祖传法之谶记及宗师之机缘,名为宝林传(稽古略三),如七佛之说偈,世尊之拈华,皆宝林之捏造也。而传灯广灯等诸录皆因袭之以为口实。释门正统四曰:“德宗之末,乃有金陵沙六慧炬,撰宝林传,夸大其宗。至与僧传所记,如皂白冰炭之不相入。(中略)铠庵论之曰:宝林说诡,非特达磨慧可事迹与僧传不同,其最虚诞无稽而流俗至今犹以为然者,七佛说偈世尊拈华是也。”
