末上《佛学大辞典》
(杂语)末者,最后之一次。末上,犹云在最后也。传灯录十曰:“僧问赵州从谂禅师云:和尚还入地狱否?师曰:老僧末上入。曰:大善知识为什么入地狱?师云:若不入,阿谁教化汝。”德异坛经序曰:“末上三拜得髓,受衣绍祖,开阐正宗。”
末世《佛学大辞典》
(术语)浇末之世代也。释迦入灭后五百年为正法时,次一千年为像法时,后万年为末法时。末世者,即末法时也。

(人名)又曰末伽梨俱舍梨Maskārī Gośāliputra(巴Makkhali Gosāla,又Makkhali Gosālapurtta),具曰末伽梨拘赊梨子。子之一字汉语也。六师外道之一。末伽梨为其人名,拘赊梨为其人母名,子谓拘赊梨之子也。如言舍利子。注维摩经三:“什曰:末伽梨字也,拘赊梨是其母也。”慧琳音义二十六曰:“末伽梨是姓也,拘舍梨是母名也。此计苦乐不由因,是自然外道也。”希麟音义九曰:“末揭梨子,旧云末伽梨,具足云末揭梨拘舍梨子。末揭梨是姓,拘舍梨是母名也。”毗奈耶杂事三十八曰:“末塞羯利瞿黎子。”

末利《佛学大辞典》
(植物)Māllikā,花名。末利又名摩利,末罗。译言鬘,因其花可以造鬘,故名。胜鬘宾窟上本曰:“末利,亦云摩利,此是华名。有江南寺安法师,多所博识。云:此华色白而形小,此间无物以翻之,犹存末利之称。”慧苑音义上曰:“末利者,花名也。其花黄金色,然非末利之言即翻为黄色。”
末利夫人《佛学大辞典》
(人名)Mālika,舍卫国波斯匿王之夫人也,为自末利华园将来者,故号曰末利夫人。四分律十八曰:“舍卫城波罗门耶若多有一婢,名黄头,常守末利园(高丽本作末利园明本作末罗园)。一日值如来入城乞食,黄头见佛相好,生信心,以食奉施佛,自为要誓,愿脱婢使而为王之夫人。后值王出游猎,时天暑,遥见其园驰就之。黄头见王,迎接引至凉处,敷衣使坐,供奉巧称王心。王知其聪明,请彼耶若多,聘为夫人,以自末利园中将来,号为末利夫人。”又曰摩利迦。译为鬘者。以彼在花园。为主常作花鬘,故名鬘者。又名胜鬘。毗奈耶杂事七曰:“佛在劫比罗城多根树园时,释子大名有一婢,名明月。彼常在花园摘花结作胜鬘,上于大名,因号此女为胜鬘(与胜鬘经所说之夫人同名,但彼为夫人之女),后以奉献食于佛之功德,为憍萨罗国胜光王(即波斯匿王)夫人,生恶生太子。”唯识述记八末曰:“摩利迦名鬘者,即末利夫人也。此夫人之女名摩利室罗,即胜鬘也。”智度论则言:以供养须菩提比丘之故。论三十三曰:“如末利夫人,供养须菩提故,得今世果报,为波斯尼示王后。”即末利夫人,为波斯匿王之后,生恶生太子及胜鬘夫人。
末利室罗《佛学大辞典》
(人名)Mālyaśrī,夫人名。译为胜鬘。末利夫人之女,为阿逾阇国之王妃,说胜鬘经者。唯识述记八末曰:“摩利迦,此名鬘者,即末利夫人也。此夫人之女名末利室罗,即胜鬘也。”胜鬘宝窟一本曰:“言胜鬘者,外国名为尸利摩罗(Śrīmālā),尸利此翻名之为胜,摩罗名鬘。”

(术语)梵网经所说之佛身,对于台上卢舍那佛之本身,而叶上之释迦如来为末化。言是枝末之化主也。一心戒文曰:“千华百千亿卢舍那为本身,十重四十八轻释迦文为末化。”

(杂语)乐普元安禅师之语曰:“末后一句,始到牢关,锁断要津,不通凡圣。”(传灯十六安禅师章)。浮山圆鉴禅师之语曰:“末后一句始到牢关,指南之旨不在言诠。”(会元十二有师传不载此语,碧岩第九则评唱举此说)。到大悟彻底之极处,吐至极之语,谓之末后之句。此处锁断凡圣,不容通过,故曰牢关。碧岩种电钞一坤曰:“到彻悟极处吐至极语,更无语句过之者,谓末后一句。于至极一句不通凡圣,故云牢关也,便坚牢关锁也。”无尽灯论上曰:“玆有向上出身一路,是谓之祖师不传一着,是故槃山曰:向上一路,千圣不传。学者弄形,如猿捉影。或又是谓之末后句。浮山曰:末后一句,始到牢关。指南之旨,不在言诠。”
