万《佛学大辞典》
(术语)卐字之音。卐字不入经传。惟释藏中有之。释家谓佛再世生,胸前隐起卐字文,后人始识此字。华严音义谓卐本非字。周长寿二年。权制此文。着于天枢。音之为万。谓吉祥万德之所集也。宣城梅氏不入字汇。自钱塘吴任臣作元音。统韵末卷。始行补入。参照“万字”条。

(术语)显杂修之失之语。谓杂修行者,万人中无一人得往生于弥陀之报土中者。

(书名)宋刘跂学易集。有万佛名经序曰:“赵郡李侯常武之夫人,乐安孙氏。自常武没,屏居里第,阅诵藏经,积十余万。岁钞取佛名,类聚次第,数字一万。使其子周南召南缮录成书,析为十卷,题曰万佛名经。”

(术语)初地菩萨之别号也。璎珞本业经上曰:“佛子!世间果报者,所谓十住铜宝璎珞铜轮王,一百子为眷属。(中略)欢喜地百宝璎珞七宝相轮四天王,一万子为眷属。”如此诸位菩萨当于世间果报,则欢喜地即初地之菩萨功德,得四天王,有一万之福子。
万字《佛学大辞典》
(术语)卐之形也。是印度相传之吉祥标相,梵名室利靺蹉洛刹曩Śrivatsalakṣaṇa,即吉祥海云相也。罗什玄奘诸师,译之曰德字。魏菩提流支于十地经论十二译此语为万字。此中室利靺蹉即卐译为万者,为功德圆满之义。故吉祥海云之义,译无咎。惟洛刹那译为字者,是与恶刹那之语相混,梵语洛刹那,乃相,恶刹那,乃字也。今卐为相而非字,故可译为吉祥海云相,即万相也。然其形右旋则为卐,如礼敬佛,右绕三匝,佛眉间白毫右旋婉转,总以右旋为吉祥。古来有作卍者,误也。高丽本之藏经及慧琳音义二十一之华严音义皆作卐。又示右旋之相而记为。大乘经之说,谓此系佛及第十地菩萨胸上之吉祥相,三十二相之一,据小乘之说,则此相不限于胸上。楞严经一曰:“即时如来,从胸万字涌出宝光。”无量义经曰:“胸表卐字师子臆。”观佛经三曰:“于万字印中说佛八万四千诸功德行。”唐译华严经三十九曰:“皆于金刚庄严臆德相中,出大光明,名能坏魔怨。”(是说第十地菩萨万字之文)。唐译华严经四十八曰:“如来胸臆有大人相,形如卐字,名吉祥海云。”菩提流支译之十地经论十二曰:“经曰:于功德庄严金刚万字胸出一大光明,名坏魔怨。论曰:于菩萨胸中有功德庄严万字相,名为无比。”(是卐形当万字之元初也。名义集六华严音义云:大周长寿二年主上制此文,着于天枢,音之为万。谓吉祥万德所集也。然华严音义无此文,且其说为非)。毗奈耶杂事十三曰:“世尊便舒无量百千功德所生左手旋环万字。能除怖畏,善施安稳。捉少年头,屈右手指,内彼口中,钩其齿木,与血俱出。”同二十六曰:“世尊便以上妙轮相万字吉祥网挽,其指谓从无量百福所生,相好庄严。”慧琳音义十二曰:“卐字之文,梵云室哩靺蹉,唐云吉祥相也。有云万字者,谬说也。(中略)非是字也。乃是如来身上数处有此吉祥之文,大福德之相。”华严音义上曰:“卐字之形,今勘梵本。卐字乃是德者之相,元非字也。(中略)卐,室利靺蹉。此云吉祥海云。”明本之华严音义一曰:“卐,梵书万字。若佛胸前吉祥相是万字者,何不作此字者?盖知魏朝翻十地论,译人昧劣,错谓洛刹那为相,恶刹那为字,由此相字二音按声呼之。洛恶皆如鹤字,声势既其相近故,使一朝之谬,累代忘返也。”华严疏钞八曰:“形如卐字者,静法云(即华严音义者)室离靺瑳,本非是字,乃是德者之相。正云吉祥海云,众德深广如海,益物如云。古来三藏,误译洛刹曩为恶刹罗,遂以相为字,故为谬耳。然此相以为吉祥,万德所集成,因目为万,意在语略,义含应云万相耳。”已上诸说,以万字之万为汉语之义,然有一说,以万直为梵音,而写卐字之音者。宋僧传三曰:“译音不译字,如佛胸前卐字是也。”日本最澄之注无量义经上曰:“万者,借音之字,胸上表示梵满之字。其梵字者,应作卐字。此经备音作此万字,即表果满也。”案此说非是。余于印度闻学僧之说,谓此卐形为梵天家之吉相,凡画尊像必划此卐形,于此郭内画形体为法,是乃火炎上之形,梵天之法,以火为最大清净,最大吉祥而创此相也。

万松《佛学大辞典》
(人名)燕京报恩寺万松行秀禅师,河内人也。于荆州净土寺出家,遍参诸处,终于磁之大明寺谒雪岩,契悟心印,寻还净土寺,构万松轩以自适。金章宗明昌四年(南宋光宗绍熙四年),召师问道,赐锦绮之大僧衣。承安二年,诏师住西山仰山栖隐禅寺。得法者一百二十人,寿八十一。称万松老人,报恩老人。见会元续略一上,师着从容录,盖涉于金元两朝之曹洞禅大宗匠也。
