兰奢待《佛学大辞典》
(杂语)胡语。指物之善者称为兰奢待。晋王导尝谓胡僧曰:兰奢待,僧悦,兰奢胡语之褒誉也(见朱子语录)。

(杂语)佛寺之异名。兰为梵语兰若之略,或取兰草芬芳之义。西域记张说序曰:“业光上首,擢秀檀林。德契中庸,腾芬兰室。”俱舍颂疏序曰:“咀以真诠,狎以兰室。”

(修法)岁华纪丽曰:“道门宝盖,献在中元。释氏兰盆,盛于此日。”今俗中元节尚盛行之,亦称盂兰会。参看“盂兰盆”条。

(修法)荆楚岁时记曰:“七月十五日,僧尼道俗悉营盆作盂兰盆会。”唐六典曰:“中尚署七月望日进盂兰盆,杨炯有盂兰盆赋。”翻译名义曰:“盂兰西域之语转,本云乌蓝,此翻救倒悬盆,是贮食之器。三藏云:盆罗百味,式供三尊。仰大众之恩光,救倒悬之仓急。”

(术语)阿兰若āraṇya之略称。僧人所居处也。其义即空净闲静之处。见释氏要览。能改斋漫录曰:兰若二字,白乐天作惹字押。上官仪酬薛舍人万年宫晚景寓直怀友诗,中四句云:东望安仁署,西临子云阁。长啸求烟霞,高步寻兰若。此又作日灼切也。

(术语)西竺誉人曰兰阇。亦曰兰奢。世说二曰:“王丞相拜扬州,宾客数百人,并加沾接。人人有悦色,惟有临海一客姓任,及数胡人为未洽。公因便,还到过任边云:君出,临海便复无人。任大喜悦。因过胡人前,弹指云:兰阇兰阇,群胡同笑。四坐并欢。”案翁注困学纪闻二十,误作兰若解。
兰香蕱《佛学大辞典》
(譬喻)蕱又作梢。凡兰香花生时,梢头花子分为七分,以譬鬼神碎罪人之头为七分。旧所谓阿梨树枝是也。慧琳音义三十五曰:“兰香蕱,此即如来譬喻说也。凡兰香花出时,稍头花子分为七分。罪人善神碎其头,破作七分,如彼兰香头。古译云阿梨树枝者讹也,本无阿梨树。”
