昙《佛学大辞典》
(杂名)昙摩Dharma(巴Dhamma)之略。译曰法。唐僧之名,如昙鸾昙曜等多冠昙字者是也。甄正论上曰:“窃寻昙梵二字,此土先无,玉篇说文字林字统,竟无此字。昙梵二字本出佛经,(中略)翻译人造,用诠天竺之音,演述释迦之旨。在于此方,先无此字。后葛洪于佛经上录梵字,训以为净,陆法言因而撰入切韵。”

又(人名)比丘名。译曰法。历代三宝记七曰:“昙摩此云法。”

又(佛名)法苑珠林曰:昔舍卫国中有二鹦鹉,解人言语。时阿难见鸟聪黠为说四谛,苦寂灭道。二鸟闻法,飞向树上,欢喜诵持。夜宿为野狸所食,缘此善根,来生人中。出家修道,得辟支佛。一名昙摩,二名修昙摩。
