舍《佛学大辞典》
(术语)Sa,又作没,奢。悉昙五十字门之一。为一切法本性寂之义,信勤念定慧之声也。由Śānta(寂)及Sraddhā(信)释之。大日经曰:“舍字门一切法本性寂故。”文殊问经曰:“称舍字时,是出信勤念定慧声。”

又善心所之一。内心平等而无执着,名为舍。简别于受蕴中之舍受,名为行舍,行蕴所摄故也。俱舍论四曰:“心平等性,无警觉性,说名为舍。”大乘义章二曰:“内心平等,名之为舍。”同十二曰:“亡怀称舍,心无存着故曰亡怀。”

舍利《佛学大辞典》
(动物)Śāri,鸟名。

又舍利弗比丘之母名舍利。见“舍利弗”条。

又(术语)新作设利罗,室利罗,佛之身骨也。又总名死尸,是依戒,定,慧之薰修所成者。元镏绩霏雪录曰:“舍利,按佛书室利罗,或设利罗。此云骨身,又云灵骨。有三种色:白色骨舍利,黑色发舍利,赤色肉舍利。”金光明经舍身品曰:“是舍利者,即是无量六波罗蜜功德所重。”又曰:“舍利是戒定慧所薰修,甚难可得,最上福田。”玄应音义六曰:“舍利,正音设利罗,译云身骨。舍利有全身者,有碎身者。”法华玄赞二曰:“梵云设利罗,体也。舍利者,讹也。”俱舍光记八曰:“驮都,即佛身界也,亦名室利罗。唐言体,佛身体也。旧云舍利,讹也。”资持记下四之一曰:“舍利,此翻遗身。即死尸也。”Śarīra。

舍利塔《佛学大辞典》
(堂塔)藏佛舍利者。若无舍利,则称之为支提。单为表灵场古迹而立。【舍利塔】(堂塔)Śarīra-stūpa,安置佛舍利之宝塔也。金刚童子轨曰:“此童子真言对舍利塔前念诵,余所不应念诵,作法不成故。”宝楼阁经下曰:“离喧闹,密静处建立精室,或舍利塔前。皆对佛像而向东方作吉祥坐及结跏坐。”

(人名)Śāriputra,又作舍利弗多,舍利弗罗,舍利子,新作舍利弗多罗,舍利富多罗,舍利补怛罗。舍利者母之名,弗或弗多者,弗多罗之略,子之义也。为舍利女之子,故曰舍利弗,舍利子。又父名云优婆提舍,故从父而称之曰优婆提舍。然母名之为舍利,古来有二释,一为鸟名。译曰秋露,鹙鹭,鸲鹆,鹆,鹙,百舌鸟。或言母之眼似彼鸟,或言母之才辩犹如鹙鹭,故以为名。法华玄赞一曰:“梵云舍利弗呾罗。言舍利弗者,讹也。舍利云鹙,即百舌鸟,亦曰春。弗呾罗,言子。以母才辩喻如鹙鸟,此是彼子,以母显之,故云鹙子。复名优婆提舍,以能论议故,兼得彼名。”嘉祥法华义疏一曰:“从母立名,母以眼似舍利鸟眼,故名母名舍利,其母于众女人中聪明第一,以世人贵重其母,故呼为舍利子。古经名鹙鹭子,鹙鹭子犹取鸟名也。或言舍利鸟似鹙鹭也。父名提舍。逐父为名,故名优婆提舍。优婆者逐也。提舍者星名也。”玄应音义二十一曰:“舍利子,梵言奢利富多罗,或言舍利弗多罗,此梵音转耳。舍利母名,眼之青睛名舍利,又母眼似鹆眼,因以名焉。经中或言鹙鹭子者,一义也。”大明度经曰:“秋露子。”出三藏记一曰:“旧经舍利子亦秋露子,新经舍利弗。”俱舍宝疏一曰:“舍利,此云百舌鸟。子,是唐言也。”二舍利。译曰身,又译珠,以母之身形好妙,故名为身,又母之聪明在眼珠,故名为珠。法华文句一曰:“舍利弗,具存应言舍利弗罗。此翻身子,又翻舍利为珠。其母于女人中聪明,聪明相在眼珠。珠之所生,故是珠子。又翻身。此女好形身,身之所生,故言身子。”然舍利译为身者,与设利罗讹言之舍利混同,是讹也。慧苑音义下曰:“奢唎补怛罗,此云鹙鹭子。旧翻为身子者,谬也。梵本中呼身为设利罗,故知悬别也。”玄应音义四曰:“奢利富多罗,此译云鸲鹆子,从母为名也。母眼似鹆,或如秋露鸟眼,因以名焉。旧云身子者,谬也。身者舍黎,与此奢利声有长短,故有斯谬。或言优婆提舍者,从父名子也。”舍利弗者,与目连皆为佛弟子中最重用之一人。其出家之因缘,本为外道。逢师死,茫茫求道,于途上见马胜比丘安序而走,比丘说“因缘所生法”之偈,遂出家。
